The most common historic paintings known to this day, art of handprints is a worldwide phenomenon mystery and remains a big secret even to this day. Several authors have commented on the possibility of pastoral Khoikhoi groups being involved in the production of rock paintings in South-Western Cape of South African, going back at least 2000 years ago.
Questions remain open also about the meaning of these works of art, but we can say one thing that a brand new approach was met in handprints creation, drastically changing the role of the painters and painting.
People normally gathered together for various reasons so hand printing was a group activity, where every one of them left their mark behind. Most artworks believed to have been made by young people in their teens, when performing sacred rituals and traditions or doing some spiritual practices of healing.
