A figure of a hunter in a striking pose, found in Tassili n’Ajjer plateau, southeastern Algeria, bordering Libya, Niger, and Mali. It covers an area of roughly 80,000 sq. km. and contains one of the most important collections of prehistoric rock art in the world; it was inducted into the UNESCO World Heritage Site list in 1982.
The earliest art is thought to be about 12,000 years old, with the majority between 10,000 and 9.000 years old, based on OSL dating of associated sediments.
